New moon with earth shine illuminating the dark side of the moon. I carefully blended a much darker exposure to get a little bit of detail in the bright crescent. Tokina 300mm f/2.8 600mm 1/10 second f/5.6 (wide open with the 2x teleconverter exposure compensation -5 for the crescent detail and for the earth shine/main image 300mm 1.3 seconds f/4 exposure compensation -2 heavily brightened in the raw conversion. Manual focus was very difficult for this! I took many shots at many settings to achieve this moderately acceptable outcome. - 4-18-07-twin-peaks-view-San-Francisco-Bay-Area-California - Paul Furman Photography
